B’nei Mitzvah

As they gear up for their B’nei Mitzvah, Beth El seventh graders meet on Sunday mornings and select Friday evenings. They discuss ethics and Jewish identity, and they dive deeply into the study of Torah and trope.

Each Saturday morning, pre-B’nei Mitzvah students gather to work with peer tutors—teenagers in the Beth El community who have recently had B’nei Mitzvah, and who then return to tutor younger students. Each B’nei Mitzvah student has a personal peer tutor to guide him or her through the entire B’nei Mitzvah process. For over twenty years, peer tutoring has been a unique, and essential, part of training for a B’nei Mitzvah at Beth El.

For more information about B’nei Mitzvah preparation, registration form, handbook, fees, honors form, and checklist.

Here is the list of dates for the 2022-2024 B’nei Mitzvah

“The peer teaching and learning that occurs in Beth El’s B’nei Mitzvah program, is wonderful for both the students and Teen Tutors.  For the students, having a teen teach them makes the learning more accessible since the teens are not far from their own age and B’nei Mitzvah experience. For the Teen Tutors, they gain valuable one-on-one teaching experience and contribute willingly to our Beth El community.  Both the student and teen develop a great affinity for one-another.”
