Sisterhood

IMG_7113Sisterhood Mission

Our objective is to enhance connections among women in our congregation and the broader community by fostering a collegial and positive environment. We support efforts to understand and strengthen Conservative Judaism in the home, synagogue, and community and reinforce bonds with Israel and Jews worldwide. To support our mission, we provide programs that educate, entertain, and inform Jewish women locally.

We are a vibrant, interesting, and fun-loving group, encompassing women of all ages, experiences, and backgrounds. We want YOU to join Sisterhood to help us grow and expand our programs.  In addition to our local connections, Sisterhood is affiliated nationally with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism, making us part of a group of 50,000 Jewish women nationally.  Another major aspect of our mission is raising money for TORAH FUND (click here to learn more!) which in turn supports the Jewish Theological Seminary (NYC) and Ziegler Rabbinical School (L.A.), Mathilde Schechter Institute (Jerusalem).  We also raise funds to aid our own Talmud Torah through various activities.

Activities

Please look for upcoming events via the Beth El website, Evites, Weekly Announcements, and announcements from the Shabbat bimah.  During the year we plan a membership Welcome brunch, an Interfaith Walk Around the Wall with Bagels & Coffee, Sisterhood (Friday night) Shabbat, Movie Night, Potluck Supper, and a Speaker’s program.

We seek assistance with the Chanukah Bazaar at Beth El, our table at the JCC Chanukah Bazaar, and Sisterhood Gift Shop.  We also seek your involvement as we assist the Committee of Caring (at Beth El), and Jewish Family Service (at JCC).

Gift Shop

The Beth El Sisterhood Gift Shop is a Judaica store run by volunteers. Click here for more details and to view the Gift Shop catalog.

Membership Benefits

Your dues support programs and activities throughout the year for our members and the broader Jewish community. You may join at any time during the year by sending a check to the Beth El office, with “Sisterhood dues” on the memo line. We welcome new women members of Beth El Synagogue by waiving membership dues for their first year as long as you tell us you wish to join! Please be a part of the Women of Beth El so that we can get to know you!
