Urban Ministries of Durham: Community Café Needs Oct. 2016

October 12, 2016 by bethel Leave a Comment

Start the New Year off by doing a mitzvah, helping out with one or more of the needs identified below! We need volunteers to purchase, prepare and serve the October 23rd meal at Urban Ministries’ Community Café.

Food should be delivered to Judea. Casseroles need to be placed in the freezer no later than the Thursday prior to the 4th Sunday if they are to be used that month, so in this case, by Oct. 20th.

Casseroles that arrive later will be used the next month. Other supplies get stockpiled in the Judea pantry except for cheese which goes in the fridge.

If you can help out or have any questions, please contact Erica Rapport Gringle er.gringle@frontier.com

Food:

14 large tuna casseroles: (Just assemble the ingredients below, don’t cook -except for the noodles)
2 lbs. of cooked rotini (other noodles get mushy after being frozen, thawed and baked)
About 42 ounces of water packed tuna, drained
7 cans of cream of mushroom soup (about 70 ounces and low sodium, if possible)
8 carrots and 8 stalks of celery, diced
2 Large (two pound bags) of cheddar cheese
400 cookies – mixed kinds (enough for 2 per person)
2 Large (Costco sized) jars of peanut butter and 2 large jars of jelly
2 large cans of instant iced tea mix with lemon and sugar
14-15 large (Costco sized) cans of green beans
2-4 large bottles of salad dressing – Ranch and/or vinaigrette

Serving:
We need people to serve from 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Sunday the 23rd, and monthly on the 4th Sunday.
