Institute of Islamic and Turkish Studies NC Invitation for Iftar (Evening Meal Fast Break)

Institute of Islamic and Turkish Studies NC Invitation for Iftar (Evening Meal Fast Break)
Sun. 6/19 @ 7:00 pm
In the past, the Institute of Islamic and Turkish Studies-North Carolina (IITSNC) in Cary has invited Beth El congregants to share an evening break-fast meal (“Iftar”) with them during the month of Ramadan, and they have invited us again this year. Ramadan begins the evening ofSunday, June 5, and we have reserved the date of June 19 for a Beth El group to attend.  The program begins at 7:00 pm with a documentary, “Love is a Verb,” about Fettulah Gulen, an inspirational leader of a brand of Sufi Islam that those at the Center hold in high regard.  A Question & Answer session about the Institute, Ramadan, and Islam will follow at 8:00 pm, and dinner will be served at about 8:40 pm (with sunset).
This invitation gives Beth El congregants a chance to meet and talk with some of our Islamic neighbors and to learn more about their practices and beliefs.  Those who have attended in the past have found it both enjoyable and instructive. As their invitation says, “One of our goals is to bring together the communities in order to promote compassion, cooperation, partnership and community service through
interfaith activities such as dinners.”
There is no cost, but group size is limited to 10 people.  Please RSVP to Leslie Winner as soon as possible if you would like to attend.
