Contemporary political events, in Europe and elsewhere, have turned our attention back to the question of fascism. The concern with the violent rise of fascism has distracted attention from another historical lesson: fascism was, in Germany at least, eventually overcome. How did that happen? In this lecture and discussion, Professor Noah Strote (NC-State, Department of History) will discuss his work on Germany’s transition from fascism to democracy, with attention to the lessons it might have for us today. Copies of Professor Strote’s new book, entitled Lions and Lambs: Conflict in Weimar and the Creation of Post-Nazi Germany, will be available for purchase.
