Beth El & Watts Baptist Church potluck and tree banding

November 16, 2016 by bethel Leave a Comment

Tikkun Olam with Watts Street Baptist Church

We are partnering with Watts Street Baptist Church on a joint social action event to protect the trees in Trinity Park. It will start with a dairy potluck at their facility and then go and put cankerworm bands on the trees around both of our facilities. Cankerworms are those little, green inchworms that fall out of trees in the spring. They are not good for our trees, especially our big, older trees that are already stressed. The bands catch the moths before they can lay eggs in the tops of the trees.

Materials and training will be provided. Kids can play in the church playground. We hope that you’ll participate in this great opportunity to give back to the Trinity Park neighborhood that has been so welcoming to us, as well as to get to know our neighbors at Watts Street Baptist Church!

An RSVP to tobinlf@hotmail.com or 919-741-0613 is most appreciated so we know how many to expect.
