2017 Baccalaureate speaker at Elon: Friday, May 19th

May 10, 2017 by bethel Leave a Comment

Rabbi Irwin Kula will be the 2017 Baccalaureate speaker here at Elon on Friday, May 19th, at 3pm.  Rabbi Kula is an internationally sought-after speaker, who uses Jewish wisdom to inspire people worldwide.   He is the president of CLAL, the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership.

Rabbi Kula’s biography is long and auspicious.  “An engaged and thoughtful trader in the global marketplace of ideas,” he has helped to build cultural and interfaith bridges around the world—from Bhutan, to Qatar—and over the United States, and has met with leaders as diverse as the Dalai Lama and Queen Noor.  In 2008, Rabbi Kula was awarded the 2008 Walter Cronkite Faith and Freedom Award for his work “toward equality, liberty and a truly inter-religious community.”  Religion and Ethics Newsweekly (PBS) named him one of the leaders shaping the American spiritual landscape, and Newsweek magazine has, for years, listed him as one of America’s “Most Influential Rabbis.”
