Egalitarian
Chavurah Service: We hold a chavurah
service on select Saturdays (approx. 3-5 times a year)
in either classrooms on the lower level of the main building
or the upstairs lounge of the Freedman Center. The service
is traditional and egalitarian, using the modern Orthodox Koren
siddur, and all participants are able to take active part in
it. Families sit together and women fully participate in leading
the services. The Chavurah welcomes all. Pre-bat/bar-mitzvah
youth read the maftir and chant. Post-bat/bar-mitzvah youth
are especially invited to take active roles. If you'd like
to lead or have an honor or have any questions regarding this
service including upcoming dates, please contact Malachai Hacohen <mhacohen@duke.edu> .
