Join us for a special evening at Beth El, starting with Kabbalat Shabbat services at 6:30 pm, open to all and available both in person and via streaming. Following services, enjoy a homemade Shabbat dinner crafted by Chef Dori, featuring a lavish meal with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages included in the price. The evening will conclude with an inspiring talk by Rae Jean.

"Having cancer sucks, whether you have it or someone you love has it.  It sucks away your energy and potentially your hope. When we love someone who has cancer, we often feel stuck. After all, we can’t do the one thing we really want to do, which is take away the disease. I’m a psychologist who studies positive emotions and health behaviors. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, I struggled with how to tend to my own emotions and I absolutely floundered as to how to direct my loving friends who wanted to help. I didn’t know how they could help and I didn’t have the energy to organize them. Years later, I’ve developed the Healing Cruise Support Model of how beloveds going through cancer can organize their caring friends in a way that is less draining on the person with cancer, provides meaningful support, and offers friends closeness and satisfaction. On February 21, I’ll share this model and we’ll converse about strategies that make a world of emotional difference for beloveds with cancer and those who support them." -Rae Jean Proeschold-Bell, PhD.
