"Resistance: No Matter the Cost: The Inspirational Story of Hermann Wygoda."

Hermann Wygoda, a Polish Jew, smuggled food into the Warsaw ghetto and later fought Nazis in the mountains of northern Italy. The picture above, taken in 1945, shows him between two of the 2500 Italian partisans whose unit he led. His remarkable story will be told by his son Mark Wygoda at this year’s local commemoration of the Holocaust. The event will also feature candlelighting, music, and prayer. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The 2025 North Carolina Holocaust Educator of the Year will also be introduced and honored.
