Carol Meyers is the Mary Grace Wilson Professor emerita of Religious Studies at Duke. A biblical scholar and archaeologist, she has written hundreds of articles and books, including the EXODUS volume of the New Cambridge Bible Commentary series.

The last chapter of Yitro ends with 13 verses (Exod 20:2-14) usually called the Ten Commandments, or Decalogue. Our Parsha Study Shiur will examine the traditions surrounding these verses, consider the ancient biblical and social context, and focus on some of the issues surrounding individual “commandments.”
