The seven week period between Pesach and Shavuot, in which we count the Omer, offers us a lovely invitation to begin, or to deepen, our Jewish meditation practice as we work with the qualities of the seven lower sefirot (the mystical energy centers on the Tree of Life), each of which is the “star” of each week of the Omer period. Our practice in this period can serve as a refuge in these difficult times, and as a rich pathway of self-exploration and self- healing.
No prior meditation experience or familiarity with the Sefirot needed to participate. We will gather in a hybrid format to learn and practice together each week. There will be three sessions with an in person option– before we begin, at the midpoint, and at the end of the period. All other weeks’ sessions will be completely on Zoom.
About the instructor:
Sarah Bryce is a long-time meditator, both in the Buddhist and Jewish meditation traditions. She is the lead teacher at Mindful Families of Durham, and is a psychiatrist/psychotherapist in private practice.
