"Unto Every Person There is a Name" Holocaust Commemoration

Sunday, April 27, 2025 29 Nisan 5785

7:00 AM - 7:00 PMTemple Beth Or Sanctuary

The worldwide Holocaust memorial, “Unto Every Person There Is A Name”, a commemoration observed for over 30 years, is a unique event designed to perpetuate the memory of the more than Six Million - among them one-and-a-half million Jewish children – murdered while the world remained silent. This is the only commemoration of its kind in the Triangle area.

We seek to remember them collectively and as individuals - one at a time - through the public recitation of their names on or near Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. In this way, we work to restore their identity and dignity.

Our commemoration will be held on SUNDAY, APRIL 27, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Temple Beth Or Sanctuary followed by a brief memorial service at 7:00 p.m.  Names will be read for 12 hours in 10 minute increments.

People are invited to bear witness to the reading of names both in person and via livestream click HERE. Come for some or all of the day or join via livestream.

Please help us keep the memory of the victims alive by volunteering to read names during the day. Reader Signup: click HERE.

At 6:30 p.m., guest speaker Michael Abramson, Chairman of the North Carolina Council on the Holocaust, will speak about Holocaust Education and Anti-Semitism in our public schools.
